Other Licensing Requirements

To renew to active status, a minimum of 28 credit hours in approved continuing education programs must be acquired during the two year renewal period. This includes the 7 hour National USPAP Update Course. All continuing education credit hours may be acquired in approved classroom or distance education programs. Carryover hours are not allowed.

During each two-year renewal period, a continuing education program may be taken for credit only once. Iowa will accept any continuing education programs approved by the Iowa Real Estate Appraiser Examining Board, the Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) or another state appraiser board (providing supporting documentation from the licensing board is attached). Qualifying education can count for continuing education. However, continuing education does not count for qualifying education. You may review approved courses under “Iowa Approved Courses.” For complete details, refer to Chapter 11 of Administrative Rules 193F.

AQB Approved Courses

The7-hour USPAP refresher course is required every two years during the even year.

Online Limitations

Iowa has no limit regarding how many hours of continuing education credit may be completed online.
