Georgia State Requirements – Real Estate

Renewal Date: Every 4 years

First-Time Renewal Hours Required: 36 hours

  • 9 hours – satisfied by completing the 25-hour Post-Licensing requirement within the first year of licensure https://rules.sos.ga.gov/gac/520-1-.05
  • 27 hours of CE:
    • 3 hours – Mandatory license law hours
    • 24 hours – Elective hours

Subsequent Renewal Hours Required: 36 hours

  • 3 hours – Mandatory license law hours
  • 33 hours – Elective hours

Effective July 1, 2025, all brokers will be required to complete a minimum of 18 hours of broker CE per 4-year renewal period. The 18 hours is part of the required 36 hours of CE each renewal period. The required 3 hours of license law CE will remain in effect for all licensees.

  • The new requirements are based on the APPLICATION DATE, so licensees with renewal due dates up until September 30, 2025, may renew in advance (prior to July 1, 2025) and be renewed under the old requirements.
  • All brokers renewing or reinstating on or after July 1, 2025 will need to meet the new requirements.
